Update: HBARC Jamboree On The Air success

Update with photograph: On the weekend of 15-16 October HBARC mounted the MX0HBA station for the worldwide JOTA event. Located at Runway’s End Scout Activity Centre near Farnborough Airport, over two days the station was visited by 50+ scouts, cubs & beavers and their families. The majority of them passed greetings on the air and earned points towards their communications badge.

The Vickerstaffs on the radioThe station comprised a Yeasu FT-1000 feeding a mast-mounted doublet. The radio was bequeathed to HBARC earlier this year by the family of Norman Vickerstaff G0VYR (SK). His widow Rowena, son Peter, and grandchildren Alex & Abbi made a special trip to see their kind gift being used on the air and being greatly enjoyed by many scouts, as has always been their wish. It was wonderful to see how pleased they were 🙂

Nigel M6MGA brought his fabulous FT-2000 and computer to demonstrate PSK-31 on 40m & 20m through his ProAntenna vertical. Other HBARC ‘staff’ included Paul G0DBS, David M0DHO, John G0LVR, Bob G3WKW, Phil G1LKJ, Bob M0HRE and Simon M0XIE. Let me know if I’ve overlooked anyone!
